By the grace of God, our 3rd year of homeschooling is complete! ✅
I thought homeschooling would be like
four ducks in a neat row,
progressing one-by-one,
following obediently behind me,
or quietly working at their desks.
Instead, there’s the kinesthetic learner
who stands and taps and walks in circles and bounces a ball while doing math
and the wild toddler who runs and trips and flails and scales walls or my back
and the clumsy, waddling baby
who tugs and grabs and tumbles
and the one who snuggles softly by me and can’t get a word in.
There’s opinions, comments, arguments, and questions. There’s giggles, screams, shouts, and cries. There’s interruptions, digressions, transgressions, and contrition.
I feel like I’m failing every day.
Then I see resolve and diligence,
or patience and caring.
I watch excellence pursued or kindness extended.
I hear praise and prayers or ideas on how to help humanity.
I listen to “mama read” as a book is brought to me or “mom look!” as they discover something new or “thanks, mom!” as something clicks and they understand.
And I remember the grace that carries us. 💚🌿
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
